Chapter XVI

Large and round like a god-like body, the moon kept a flawless vigil over the city. The many windows and lights of Juuban flickered like fireflies. The night was nothing but a dark blue cloud, floating over the buildings, comforting, serene and untouchable.

Usagi stood at the widespread glass window that overlooked the city. She was at her apartment and it was close to midnight. With crossed arms, her fingers mindlessly fiddled with the fabric of her top while her eyes reflected the city's many lights.

Three days.

Three days after coming back from a perilous journey through space and once again cheating death, this time at the hands of merciless hunters, black fire and an exploding planet. The turn of events was one after the other and Usagi could still feel her heart pounding furiously just from thinking about it.

But the three days that awaited the arrival of the Inner Senshi were to be filled with more trials.

The moment they touched ground, they already had a "welcoming" crew waiting for them. In the late afternoon when the sun turned the sky a flaming orange, they arrived to meet the unreadable faces of Haruka, Mirchiru, Luna and Artemis.

Usagi had sunk to the ground, as Seiya's still unconscious form laid in her arms. The Senshi returned to their normal forms as Yaten, Taiki and themselves took a place around Usagi in a small semi-circle. They gazed forward at the two women and two cats at stood apart from them.

For a long time nothing was said between the two groups with tension misted in between. Luna and Artemis' feline eyes moved over the way Usagi held Seiya tightly to her body as if she thought they were going to take him from her. Haruka on the other hand, stood with her hands in her pockets with her lips in a tight line. Michiru was beside her with an expression they couldn't place.

The Inner Senshi watched with held breaths as Luna gave Artemis a helpless gaze. The black cat had time to think about Usagi's decision and all that happened. Speaking more so with Setsuna had calmed the waves of worry and anger. Now all that had been left now was to resolve. Then Luna approached Usagi, deciding once and for all to adjust and accept the new way of life Usagi had chosen. Artemis had also followed suit.

On the other hand, Michiru had looked at Haruka. Secretly the green-haired woman wanted her companion to approve. All Michiru really had wanted was for the Moon Princess to be happy, she understood that Usagi hadn't been happy with Mamoru for quite some time. If Seiya was there to put back the color in her cheeks and the bright smile on her face, Michiru was happy to oblige.

Haruka had sighed and watched Luna and Artemis touch Seiya's unconscious body with their paws. Usagi was smiling even more now, taking both cats into her arms and giving them tight hugs. Haruka then walked away, needing to clear her head.

On the second day, Usagi had stayed by Seiya's side by keeping vigil at his immobile form on the bed. They were back at her apartment and the Inner Senshi, Taiki and Yaten, Hotaru and Setsuna were never far away. They were always walking in and out of the apartment, checking and making sure.

Usagi and the Senshi regaled Setsuna, Hotaru, Luna and Artemis with their tale of Eidoran and each passing event. The whole story was brought out, extracting shock and wonder from the two guardian cats. Hotaru had sat and listened, eyes the size of dinner plates and looking at Seiya closely after Ami explained the Nova.

Finally, on the third day, Usagi was alone in the apartment until she received an unexpected visit from Haruka. At first she was surprised but then welcomed Haruka and Michiru inside. Silently, the tall blonde female asked Usagi if she could see Seiya.

Haruka looked at his sleeping form on the bed. She couldn't believe that fate would pull such an unforeseen stunt, ending all of them in this one place. Mamoru had contacted Haruka after he made the trip back to Los Angeles and let her know that he wouldn't be returning to Japan any time soon. Maybe some day, he had said.

And now, here was Princess Serenity's choice, no, Usagi's choice. Kou Seiya.

A small smile touched Haruka's face, taking in all the possibilities of spending the rest of her life in the company of the former Starlights. After all, they had proven themselves worthy opponents and comrades.

After Usagi set out to retell once again the precarious journey to Eidoran, before leaving her alone with Seiya, Haruka touched Seiya's shoulder. Bending down slightly, she whispered in his ear in a semi-stern voice. [ Take good care of her……or else… ] Haruka had meant the last part "half-seriously", knowing already that Seiya would surely keep that promise. She and Michiru left later that afternoon.

Usagi waved goodbye and shut the door. Turning around, she ended up face to face with a fully conscious Seiya.

Now, as Usagi was standing at her window and looking out to the city of Juuban, she turned her head back at the sound of her name. Seiya was standing there with a sparkle in his eyes in an outfit of new clothes. Makoto had taken time to buy something for him the day before.

" Are you busy ?" He asked grinning.

Usagi smiled, practically jumping into his arms." Never." She said, giving him a kiss.

" Well, good."

Seeing Seiya's grin widen at her answer, Usagi pulled back and gave him a suspicious look." What are you up to ?"

" Nothing much." He said, trying to look innocent.

She put her hands on her hips and stared at him.

Seiya put his arms up in surrender and laughed," Okay, okay !" Taking Usagi's hand, he told her to close her eyes while he led her slowly to the bathroom. Usagi couldn't help smiling with excitement as she put one foot in front of the other. The fresh smell of roses, magnolias and a touch of strawberries infiltrated through her nostrils when she stepped onto the bathroom's white tile floor.

He stopped in the middle of the bathroom, putting his mouth a breath away from her earlobe and whispered gently for her to open her eyes.

Usagi gasped in wonder at the sight before her. The bathroom was lit with numerous candles, giving the room an exquisite starlight glow. It smelled heavenly as flowers and strawberries mixed together in the gentle air. A feeling of warmth exploded in Usagi's stomach as her gaze fed upon the foam-topped, steaming bath in the white Jacuzzi-like tub.

She giggled delightedly and faced Seiya with a beaming smile on her face. She glistened like a precious gem, being treated like simple royalty by the man she loved." You sir," she said, poking him in the chest," Are going to SPOIL me rotten."

Seiya bent down and gave her neck a slow kiss." I hope its working." He chuckled softly, eliciting the same response from Usagi.

" Thank you, Seiya." She said and stepped slightly away, turning so her back was now facing him. With a little smile on her face, she put both hands at the hem of her top and pulled it over her head and soon her beige capris followed suit. The gentle lace of her under garments was removed and she had settled into the luxury of the warm, sweet-smelling bath.

All the while, Seiya had to make sure to keep his feet chained to the bathroom floor even if he only saw so much as her backside. He wandered closer to the edge of the tub, watching Usagi's head tilt back among the pearly bubbles. A thin line of foam was the only thing that was covering the gentle swells of her breasts.

Usagi sighed contentedly, looking up at Seiya with exhilaration etching her features." You really shouldn't be doing this." She said, still beaming." I should be the one doing something for you. After all that's happened, it's you who needs the break."

She regarded Seiya as he simply shrugged." I don't mind, especially if it's you." He picked up a bottle of jasmine-scented shampoo." Would you like if I did the honors ?" He asked.

" Oh you don't have to."

" Please ?" He said like a little child. It was enough to make Usagi melt in the steaming bath and she couldn't say no for the life of her. Seiya was already undoing the two odangos that sat upon the top of her head. With two flicks of his wrists, Usagi's long mass of silken blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders.

Seiya settled into a comfortable position behind Usagi and poured some shampoo in his outstretched palm. Slowly, his hands began to work the suds into her hair.

" Mmm……" Was the sound that escaped from her lips. In pure bliss, Usagi closed her eyes at the feel of Seiya's fingers running through her hair so deliciously. They combed through her blonde locks, massaging and twisting about.

Soon, his hands moved down the back of her neck and began a slow massage towards her shoulders. Usagi was reminded of the last time that he gave her a massage. It felt so incredible but unfortunately it was cut short due to a phone call. But now there wasn't a distraction in the world that would disturb such a moment of perfect relaxation.

He treated her like a queen, his hands moving over her bare wet shoulders. It just felt so good, having Seiya so near.

Usagi purred into his touch and at the total closeness of the situation. They were both alone with the only thing between Seiya and her naked body was a tub filled with bubble bath.

All at once she felt Seiya's wondrous hands stop. He extricated his fingers from her tresses and slid over to the side of the tub where Usagi's head rested itself. She giggled when she saw that Seiya looked quite pleased with himself at his success of making her happy.

" Shall I fetch you a drink milady ?" He asked in a gallant voice." All I really found though was a bottle of sparkling peach juice…uh, nothing much." Seiya laughed light heartedly.

" That would be lovely." Usagi sighed." But I think I prefer you stay right here. Even for a glass of juice I wouldn't let you go."

With an impish smile, Usagi reached up and tugged on the collar of Seiya's shirt. She pulled him down towards her lips, opening them to accommodate the willingness of his kiss. The power of it increased, turning harder as their breathing quickened.

By then, she had lifted both arms out of the steaming water with a soapy hand coming around to the back of Seiya's neck. It grasped the band that held his hair together and pulled, freeing his luscious black strands. A raven waterfall of hair fell over his shoulder, partially falling into the bath and caressing Usagi's skin.

She trailed hot kisses on his chin before softly nibbling on his bottom lip." Oops," She whispered mischievously." Looks like you'll have to join me now."

Seiya did nothing but smile, taking her in with every breath. He loved her entirely, feeling the highest how it felt to have her love. He was more than the richest man on Earth, more than the happiest.

Words weren't needed to express the following moments as the couple continued their journey to a life that wasn't laid out on a table for them to know. They wanted to make it together, meeting each and every turn with courage, not having to worry too much about the future and what was going to happen.

Setsuna's words had been true. Usagi had already destroyed the last of the Nova. She was able to love Seiya. And that was all they needed.
